“The Beauty of Decay” – Spalted Beech Torso
There’s something deeply captivating about spalted beech. The natural fungi create dark veins and intricate patterns, transforming the wood over time into something entirely unique.
This female torso is the first in a new series I’m carving from the same stunning batch of wood. A male torso is already in the works, along with a collection of male, female, and children’s faces—each piece celebrating the organic beauty and individuality of the wood itself.
Mounted on a handmade wooden plinth, this sculpture is a tribute to transformation—where time, decay, and craftsmanship come together to create something truly one-of-a-kind.
Each sculpture in this series will carry its own distinct character, shaped not just by my hands, but by the unpredictable nature of the wood. No two will ever be the same.
